Stereoscopic 3D animated feature-film
Just when it’s time to migrate to Africa, Darius the elder of the flock and veteran migration
guide gets mortally wounded by a big hungry cat. With none of his friends close to hand, he has no
choice but to share all his secrets and new flying routes with the first bird that happens to come
along. The candidate is none other than Bird, an eccentric little chap, superexcited about the
challenge, but without the slightest idea or talent for migrating whatsoever.
Guilhem Lesaffre, an ornithologist considered as one of the best specialists of bird migration in
France, worked in close collaboration with the author, Antoine Barraud.
Working with Benjamin Renner for the design felt like an obvious choice. His first sketches gave life
to Antoine Barraud’s characters. Benjamin Renner, who graduated from La Poudrière, has impressed
everyone with his short film A MOUSE’S TALE, which has been awarded several times, and which has
received the Cartoon d’Or in September 2008.
The first stereoscopic 3D tests of OCCHO KOCHOI were shown at Cartoon Movie Lyon in March
2009; building from this successful presentation, partnership offers are implementing - convinced by
the relevance of the transposition of this very original design to stereoscopic 3D, which augurs for a
start of production in the first quarter of 2010.
